At first,I was a bit worried about whether Amy would like me or want to spend time with me.These fears soon disappeared when I quickly formed a strong bond (关系) with Amy.She trusted me and felt like she could depend on me.
During our time together,I took Amy out twice a month.I must say, collecting her for the first time and deciding what we were going to do was difficult!I quickly learned that it was best to plan what we would do on the next outing before collecting her.
Over the course of the year we got to do lots of things:cinema trips,bowling,ice-skating,and shopping.I have noticed a positive change in Amy since I met her.At first she lacked (缺乏) confidence. In a 1:1 situation she was very talkative and open, but when another person joined the group I noticed she became more reserved (寡言少语的) — especially around other teenagers.Thinking about this,I planned more public outings over time.Amy was nervous at first, but she grew in confidence over the year.
I feel like befriending has been a very positive thing for Amy.She really enjoyed our outings. Her outlook on life (人生观) improved noticeably during the year too.I talked to her about my experience at university, and she then started to talk more about further education, something which I am told she had never really considered as a choice before.
I feel that we all have a social responsibility to help others in our communities, and befriending is just one way in which I can do something meaningful.

13. (本题8分) In the American Journal of Physics, three high school students from Portugal, along with their teacher, have reported the results of their project. The students programmed an add-on (附加装置)board for the Raspberry Pi computer to map out Earth's magnetic field (磁场).
The European Space Agency teamed up with the U.K.'s Raspberry Pi Foundation to hold a competition for high school students. The competition, known as the Astro Pi Challenge, required the students to program a Raspberry Pi computer to be run aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
The students used the data (数据) from the space station to map out Earth's magnetic field and compared their results to data provided by the International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF国际地磁参考场). "
"I saw the Astro Pi Challenge as a way to increase my knowledge and skill set,and it ended up introducing me to the exciting reality of the practical world," Louren?o Faria,co-author and one of the students of the project, said.
The IGRF data is updated (更新) every five years,so the students compared their results, taken in April 2021,with the latest IGRF data from 2020.They found their data differed from the IGRF results. This difference could be because of the magnetic field inside the space station.
The students repeated their tests using another set of data from ISS and found a good improvement in results. The students thought it astonishing that the main features (特征) of Earth's magnetic field could be remeasured (再次测量) with only three hours' worth of computing from their low-cost add-on board in the space station.
Although this project was carried out aboard the space station,it could easily be applied to ground-based measurements using apps for smartphones.
"Taking measurements around the world and sharing data through the Internet or social media would make for an interesting science project that could connect students in different countries," said Alex Mora, manager of Raspberry Pi Foundation.

(1)What did the three students do in the Astro Pi Challenge?
A.They made a new Raspberry Pi computer.
B.They computed Earth's magnetic field.

A.It should include more students from different countries.
B.It made him realize the importance of knowledge.

D.It should get more international attention.
(3)What does the underlined word" astonishing" in paragraph 6 mean?

14. (本题8分) Clank, clank, clank, clank.Slowly the train climbs the steep (陡峭的) hill. You should look at this train closely because it is very special. It can reach a speed of 120 kilometers per hour,it can go upside down and sideways, and it can accelerate (加速) as fast as a Ferrari.Look at the passengers. They know about this vehicle and they look nervous. In fact, some even look fearful. That's not surprising,as this is no ordinary train ride;in fact, this train is a roller coaster!
Roller coasters fly up and down hills, move around corners, twist, turn, and even go upside down. But there's a secret to their twists and turns. On a roller coaster ride, the amount of energy needed to go up a hill or through a loop (圈) is always less than the energy gained by coming down the previous hill.Believe it or not,all of the energy needed for a roller coaster ride is provided in the first drop.
Roller coasters are designed by special engineers. These engineers need to understand mathematics and, especially, physics. They need to work out exactly how much energy will be generated in the first drop. This energy is called potential energy(势能).Next, the engineers must figure out how much energy each of the following twists and turns will use. This is called kinetic energy(动能).It's important work.If the engineers work out wrongly, the roller coaster may run backward and get stuck in the middle of the track!
Nobody wants the roller coaster to get stuck, but it can happen. On rare occasions,a strong wind or a heavy load of passengers may slow the roller coaster just enough to stop it from climbing the next hill. Some roller coasters actually use this as part of their design.
As long as people are looking for a thrill (刺激),roller coasters will be there to give it to them.Hiding against the force of gravity provides a great feeling that is hard to beat. For many people, roller coasters are the ultimate thrill ride.

(1)When does a roller coaster get all of the energy it needs?
A.When it goes through a loop.
B.When it moves around corners.
C.When it goes up the second hill.
