"Not again!" Aliya shouted angrily, looking at the marke had attained in her maths test.
It seemed as if failing in the math test had become a part and parcel of her life.Despite her efforts, she had been unable to perform well.Tears in her eyes, she quickly shoved (乱塞) the paper into her bag before any classmate could make a rude comment on her.
Effortlessly, using the back of her palm, she was wiping the tears when her teacher Mrs Leena noticed her.She came to Aliya's desk and,in a soft voice, asked her to see her during the break time.
Wondering what it could be,Aliya waited impatiently for lunchtime. Finally, when the bell rang, she made her way to Mrs Leena. As soon ae saw Aliya, she gestured for her to sit on the empty chair beside her.
She carefully studied her face, cleared her throat with a bright smile and said, "You seem to be anxious.I think I know what's bothering you.If you allow me I think together we may come up with a good solution."
With a puzzled look, she said, "Well ma'am,you know I have been struggling in maths since the beginning of the term.It seems as if no matter how hard I work,I am unable to get the desired result.I feel so upset," she said sadly.
"You need not be so gloomy," encouraged Mrs Leena. "With these three key ingredients:hard work, determination and resilience (韧性),you will move ahead and succeed. It's always the first step that's difficult, but once you decide not to look back and not give up,you will be successful,my dear.Come on,gather yourself and let's work on it together."
From that day onwards,Aliya worked hard, religiously following her teacher's advice.By the time the final exams drew close, she had thoroughly revised her math book and well-prepared.

The frightening day of our diving test was here. Our parents thought we were lucky to have an Olympic-size swimming pool at the school. My mom stressed that the swimming pool was one of the best in our city. But I didn't feel happy about it at all.Instead,I felt afraid of the swimming pool.It was mainly because I was terribly shy.
I was so shy that I always sat at the back of the room in class so I'd not be called upon to read.As for the present physical education class each Monday morning,I would work my way to the back of the line forming at the diving board so I would not have to practice the dives.
Now,it was another Monday morning - the morning of our diving test.My blood ran cold when the teacher Ms.Robbins announced that we would be graded for our final on the most difficult dive- the jackknife. And she added, "This diving test is important. The one who fails has to spare time in the following Monday mornings to practice diving in this swimming pool and attend this test again."
My body kept shaking with fear as the line to the scary diving board shortened. As I watched, each student seemed to perform the challenging dive effortlessly. And shortly I would have to attempt something that I had never even practiced before.
Then I remembered someone telling me that when you picture yourself doing a skill over and over,it's just as effective as physically practicing that skill. So I watched carefully as each classmate jumped at the end of the board once, added a jump for height, folded their body in half to reach for their toes, and finally straightened out like an arrow for going into the water. After carefully watching for a while,I was actually in a state of surprise, because all of a sudden I realized that it was possible for me to perform these four steps of diving.
Eventually all classmates except me finished jumping. The teacher announced that it was my turn.

2.请按如下格式作答。
With my heart knocking wildly,I walked down the diving board towards its end.

He left the house with a light heart, intending to buy the books. As he ran down the street,he saw a poor German family, the father, the mother, and three children shivering(发抖)with cold.
"I wish you a happy New Year," said Edward,as he was happily passing by.The man shook his head. "You do not belong to this country?" said Edward. The man again shook his head, for he could not understand or speak the English language. But he pointed to his mouth, and to the children,as if to say, "These little ones have had nothing to eat for a long time." Edward quickly understood that these poor people were in a very difficult situation and required some help.He took out his dollars, and gave one to the man,and the other to his wife.
How their eyes sparkled(闪耀)with gratitude! They said something in their language, which doubtless meant, "We thank you a thousand times, and will remember you in our prayers."

When Michael Martin was going to do his normal shopping at a Smart & Final store in Sacramento,California with his family, curiosity made him stop in front of a man sitting outside. It's no wonder to see some homeless people outside different stores, but this man seemed different. He was sitting on his sleeping bag with his resumes(个人简历) and a sign that read "need work and food".
The man was named Frederic Callison,52 and a former cook.He came to Sacramento two years ago from Washington in the hope of getting a job as a cook. His plans were stopped and he ended up in this unexpected way ever since.Smart & Final allowed him to stay near the store,as he helped them to push carts for free.
But he would not like to ask for money like most of the homeless people.Instead,he decided to use the place as an active job-hunting to change his difficult circumstances. So he made the sign. This was not just words,as his Social Security number and ID were also kept handy. All the documentowed his serious intentions to find work.
Martin was amazed by such preparations and asked the man for his resumes.Without hesitation,Callison handed one to him.The resume, which was well-written and had a striking resume headline, claimed that he was a fine cook. Then he began telling Martin about his qualification and work experiences. It was like a real interview, but not so intense and strict.
Martin was impressed and inspired by Callison's will and efforts to work.He totally understood the situation of Callison.Efforts and determination of Callison were worth respect,as it was really a difficult goal.

Many years ago,I was at a girls' school and our teacher made all the girls in the class sit next to someone different every day.
On one of the days,my teacher paired Madhuri, who I had never talked to,and me to sit next to each other.I noticed that she seemed very anxious.I asked her what was wrong. She remained silent at first, but eventually, she told me that she had three sisters in her family and that her father couldn't afford school books for all of them.
My primary school was strict,as was the standard then, and if you didn't have your school books the teacher would make you leave the class.Madhuri was very anxious that day because she thought that the teacher would tell her to leave the class. When the teacher saw that she didn't have the books,he told Madhuri that she couldn't attend class for a week.
Madhuri was very upset.I felt so bad when I saw her pain that I decided to help her.I went to speak to her and offered to buy the books for her.She refused my offer to help. She had very strong principles and she would never accept things bought by others.
When I got home from school I told my mom the story. She said that it was good that I had tried to help but I should stop worrying about it because there was nothing more that I could do if she had refused my offer to help.I couldn't stop worrying about it though.

(2024•周至六中•高一上期末) One day my grandfather gave me a gift - a piggy bank.It had an opening through which one could put money in,but the opening was not big enough to reach in and get the money out.The only way to get at the money was to break the piggy bank open.My grandfather explained that was the whole idea;the piggy bank would help save my money so that,at the end of the year,I might have enough for that bike I dreamt about. He asked if I would put some of the money he gave me into the piggy bank.I agreed immediately and promised that I wouldn't break it open until I could afford my dream bike.
Whenever he gave me a little bit of money,he would say, "This is for spending. But you can save so me and put it in the piggy bank if you want to save it up." When he gave me larger amounts,it was clearly for saving in the piggy bank. For some time, this worked fine.I loved shaking the piggy bank and hearing the sound of the coins. As it became heavier,I grew more excited, dreaming about buying my new bike, and all the adventures I could have on it.
Whenever I wanted to take some money from the piggy bank to buy delicious ice-creams or beautiful pens,I would imagine riding my bike on the street, and thinking of that,my thoughts about ice-creams or pens went away.So for almost six months,I only put money into the piggy bank without taking any out.I thought I wouldn't break my piggy bank for anything. But one day something unexpected happened.I saw a piece of news on the television that a serious earthquake had happened in a nearby province. As many houses were destroyed,a lot of children became homeless.Seeing their shabby clothes and crying faces,I was sleepless that night.

I came upon one of those rocks just the other day.I saw a car turn around it and the truck just ahead of me run over it.I turned too and then quickly pulled over to a wide place.I knew a rock that size would break parts of a low riding car like mine if the driver didn't see it in time to move.I walked over and picked up the huge stone. It must have weighed 50 pounds but I tried my best ,and finally I got it into the ditch(沟) and walked smiling back to my car.
The happening reminded me of an old story I had read once.In a faraway land a king had placed a huge rock on the road leading to his palace. Many nobles walked by and around it complaining(抱怨) that the king didn't keep the road up better. Finally,a poor farmer arrived pulling a cart of vegetables. He stopped and rolled the rock off the road with all his strength. Then he saw under it was a bag of gold coins that the king had left for the one who cleared the path for those who came after.
Now while there wasn't any bag of treasure under the rock I moved,my heart did feel a little more golden as I walked back to my car.Maybe the real reward(奖励) is the love we feel, the good we do and the kindness we share. Then an idea came to my mind:why not make the road safer to drive on?

On that day when she got home, her mother saw her sad face. And then her mother asked her the reason for her sadness. "Where can I find true friends?" Lily asked. Her mother was surprised at her question. Then she asked Lily what had happened in school. Her mother comforted her and said,"You cannot buy friends with a smile or a few good words. If you really want true friends, you will have to give them real time and love. For a true friend you must always be available,in good times and bad."
Lily replied, "But I want to be friends with everyone!"

It was a sunny morning six months ago.Henry,a teenager boy,had been walking down the sidewalk. When he made way for an old lady,he fell to the ground. His heart suddenly stopped.
However,Henry was fortunate enough to fall in front of a faith-based shelter for homeless people in transitional housing (过渡房) based in Hyannis.Massachusetts.A 54-year-old resident David was working inside it when he heard some one outside screaming for help.He Tan to the scene as soon as possible.
David, who lad just been given CPR(心肺复苏) training with all the staff and residents of the shelter a few days previously, ran over to Henry's motionless body and started giving first aid.He had been conducting CPR for ten minutes before medical staff arrived and loaded Henry into the ambulance.
Henry was born with a kind of heart disease. The disease was deadly especially when it struck on the road. Thanks to David's immediate action.Henry was saved in time.In no time.Henry's father Sam came to the hospital and said thanks to David and the doctors over again and again. One of Henry's attending doctors said."No one could believe it.Generally speaking,if you're not in the hospital and go into shock from a heart attack.you won't survive it.Even if you're in the hospital, the result may be the same."
A resident in the shelter said, "David is a nice, lovely and reliable man.He is very organized and always arranges things perfectly. So I know he can deal with the emergency." Of course,David could made it because he had been volunteering to serve the homeless since childhood. But something unexpected caused him to be homeless and end up in the shelter.
As a means of thanking David for helping to save his son from certain death.Sam created a page to raise money for David. "David is doing everything right to escape his homelessness, but the barrier is huge.Chances of escaping homelessness are about as slim as walking away from a heart attack." he said.

A first haircut can often be scary for little kids.Seeing a stranger coming over you with a pair of scissors for the very first time can often leave children with a wrong first impression of something that most of us go through on a regular basis.
In a recent video shared by a barber (理发师),Jad Srour, attracted people's special attention. In the video,Jude,a young boy of about four or five years old, could be seen experiencing his very first haircut. When the barber put the scissors to his hair, the boy couldn't keep the tears any longer. As soon as Jude broke into tears, his mom, obviously feeling her son's fear, was in tears as well. The barber stopped for a while so that the boy's mom could try to calm him down. After the mom finally calmed her boy down, the barber continued though the boy still wasn't entirely happy with his situation.Surprisingly, once the barber cut the boy long hair down, the young boy smiled, and the eyes focused on the hair and shone with tears.
The video of Jude's haircut quickly spread. After seeing the boy's reaction to having his long hair cut off, many social media users took to criticize (批评) the boy's parents for putting him through something that obviously hurt him mentally.
Considering how upset the little boy seemed when the barber touched his hair, many users wondered whether the boy wanted to cut his hair. One person commented, "Why did he have to cut his hair when he was clearly in pain about it?" Other users even wondered why Jude's parents let his hair get as long as it did. They even wrote, "Why let it get uncontrollably long?" "What a horrible thing to do to a child.Shameful." Many comments seemed to be negative.
