二、阅读理解(4小题共30分)
11. (本题6分)     The ebike has become an essential item, and even the King has been spotted riding one.According to the market research company Mintel, sales have almost tripled over the past five years. While ebikes have become increasingly commonplace, they are still undeniably expensive. You can pick up a perfectly adequate push bike for £300,but most ebikes cost nearly £2,000.Now,Cycling Electric, designed to help consumers choose an ebike, offers the following recommendations.
   Best folding bike
   Carbo Model 4
   Price:£2,799 Weight:13.3 kg
   Range:up to 34 miles
This is one of the most convenient bikes, from a little-known label. The lightweight Carbo X is the perfect example of convenience thanks to its carbon frame and belt drive, instead of a metal bike chain. This makes it lighter and less likely to get messy than an electric Brompton, with its more traditional, oily chain.
   Most stylish
   Temple Cycles Classic
   Price:from £2,995 Weight:19 kg
Range:up to 74 miles This Bristol-based brand is known for its elegant pushbikes, which are hand-built in the city. This is its electric version. It's a very sleek and functional commuter option and not too heavy.Temples have fewer proprietary(品牌专卖的)parts and so are serviceable in any bike shop.Stylish as they may be,the VanMoofs and the Cowboys can be a bit more complex to get back-up and service.
   The money-no-object option
   Riese&Müller Nevo4 GT Vario G4
   Price:£5,380 Weight:28.4 kg
   Range:up to 93 miles
This is a prime example of the attention to detail delivering a high-quality experience in functionality, comfort and practicality—if you can afford it.It has the capacity to handle 25 kg of luggage in a pannier, powerful road lights and a beautifully smooth motor.

(1)What is the advantage of the Temples over other stylish ebike brands?
A.They are more lightweight.
B.They have more functions.
C.They have easier access to service.
D.They are more comfortable.
(2)Which ebike will a consumer probably choose, who cares most about an excellent experience?
A.Carbo Model 4.
B.The VanMoofs and the Cowboys.
C.Temple Cycles Classic.
D.Riese&Müller Nevo4 GT Vario G4.
(3)Where is the text probably taken from?
A.An online post.
B.A magazine column.
C.A market research report.
D.An official document.
12. (本题8分)     Jose Alberto Gutierrez's life would never be the same again after finding a copy of Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy in the garbage 20 years ago.It happened while he was driving his garbage truck through wealthier neighborhoods at night and seeing deserted books. It sparked his desire to start rescuing books from the garbage. He took home between 50 and 60 books every morning after his nine-hour shift.Eventually,he turned his book collection into a community library.
Colombia's capital city of Bogota has 13 million residents and 19 public libraries. However, these libraries tend to be far away from where rural and poorer communities live. The option of buying new books is non-existent for families struggling to make ends meet.Having access to a library of books and being taken away to another world while immersed in a book is a luxury for the kids who visit Gutierrez's library.
Gutierrez grew up poor, and his family could not afford to educate him beyond primary school.Nevertheless, his mother was a keen reader and read stories to him every night. Her love for books left a deep impression on Gutierrez, who never let a lack of formal education stop him from reading classics by the likes of Vietor Hugo,Mario Vargas Llosa and Gabriel Gareia Marquen.
Today, his community library, called "The Strength of Words",occupies most of his home and is piled from floor to ceiling with fiction and non-fiction titles.Everything from school textbooks to story books can be found in his collection of more than 20,000 books!
The Strength of Wards library opens every weekend. It is not just school-going children who are enjoying the benefits of The Strength of Words library.Adults are also welcome to expand their horizons and develop new skills to build a better life for themselves.
Despite having done so much for his community,Gutierrez is not yet content to call it a day.He continues to search through bins for reading materials and has even travelled to book fairs in Mexico and Chile to sell his idea of building libraries from unwanted books.

(1)Why was Gutierrez inspired to build the community library?
A.The hobby he has taken up since childhood.
B.Abandoned books he came across at work.

D.Good things come to those who wait.
13. (本题8分)      The topic "slash youth",referring to those refusing to be defined or bound by just one personal identity and choosing to undertake multiple careers, has fueled heated debate on social media. On Douban,a Chinese social networking platform, the topic has attracted about -11,000 posts and has been viewed over 400 million times.China's young people are keen to share their slash youth stories online, presenting themselves as multiple and sometimes distinct identities, such as a nurse and model,a teacher and stand-up comedian, and an engineer and musician.
Xing Eryang,a 31-year-old female resident in Beijing, founded the Douban topic in -2021.While staying diligent about her daytime work, she is developing her hobbies, including stand-up comedy and vlogging, into secondary careers during her spare time. And she is amazed to find her "slash life" philosophy followed by so many of her peers.
Weiheng,a 26-year-old woman in Guangzhou, and Tang Yuhan,a 27-year-old man in Xuancheng city,Anhui province, are both participants in the topic, with their stories earning thousands of likes so far.The two are both musicians in their spare time, even though they are thousands of miles apart and have different jobs in media and finance.Their passion for music has grown since college and they didn't abandon their enthusiasm, even after entering the workplace.
Their reaction showed the gap between the young and former generations. "My parents used to say, 'music cannot earn you money',so the band thing was regarded as a waste of time. However,we want to pursue whatever we love and are willing to pay for it." says Weiheng.
"The 'slash life' mania(狂热)shows that, along with China's economic development, our society is becoming more and more diversified and inclusive, and it welcomes everyone's self-fulfillment," says Shi Yanrong,an associate researcher from Tianjin Academy of Social Sciences. 14. (本题8分)     We are all aware of the damaging pollution that's created by driving petrol and diesel (柴油) vehicles. Many of the world's cities are blocked with traffic, creating fumes containing gases such as nitrogen oxides. The solution for a cleaner, greener future could be electric vehicles. But how optimistic should we be?There was much excitement last year when the UK government announced it will ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030.But is that easier said than done?
The road to global traffic being totally electric is still a long way off.Currently, battery life is an issue —a fully charged battery won't take you as far as a full tank of petrol. There are also limited numbers of charging points to plug an EV into.Of course, technology is always improving. Some of the biggest tech companies, like Google and Tesla, are spending huge amounts of money developing electric cars. And most of the big car manufacturers are now making them too.
Colin Herron,a consultant on low-carbon vehicle technology, told the BBC: "The big leap forward will come with solid state batteries, which will appear first in mobile phones and laptops before they progress to cars." These will charge more quickly and give cars a bigger range.Cost is another issue that may discourage people from switching to electric power. But some countries offer incentive, such as cutting prices by reducing import taxes, and not charging for road tax and parking. Some also provide exclusive lanes for electric cars to be driven on,overtaking traditional cars which might be stuck in jams.
These kinds of measures have made Norway the country with the most electric cars per capita (人均) at more than thirty electric cars per 1000 inhabitants. But Colin Herron warns that "electric motoring" doesn't mean a zero-carbon future. "It's emission-free motoring, but the car has to be built, the battery has to be built, and the electricity does come from somewhere." Maybe it's time to think about making fewer journeys or using public transport.

(1)Which statement can we infer from the question at the end of Paragraph 1?
A.Electric vehicles may not solve the traffic problems.
B.Probably it is hard to procure a greener future by means of electric vehicles.
C.We should not be too optimistic about the future.
D.It's not a good idea to replace petrol vehicles with electric ones.

A.Improvements.
B.Drawbacks.

D.Bonuses.
(3)According to the passage, which opinion the author might agree to?
A.Putting solid-state batteries in electric cars first will be a "great leap forward".
B.There are four obstacles on the road to global traffic being totally electric.
C.Electric cars might not get stuck in traffic jams in the future.
D.Electric motoring will create a zero-carbon future.
(4)What is the most suitable title for the text?
A.Total Electric Traffic:a Long Way to Go.
