13. (本题10分) With rounds of pioneering space flights that could set the stage for future space tourism,it is worth looking at what might be involved for the human exploration of Mars, though it's likely decades away.Technological challenges aside,as we continue to expand our exploration of Mars, there is a question:What might be the lessons of past voyages of discovery that we should think about?
Human exploration has led to many extraordinary new discoveries, but it has also led to the exploitation(开发) of resources. Not long after early European settlers arrived at America, they declared their independence and created the constitution by which modern American society functions. However, this did not prevent the settlers from referring to native people as savages and taking away their rights to liberty, happiness, and even survival.Native Americans were quickly killed by wars and new diseases as the new settlers expanded their land. The natural environment, with which they had established a harmonious relationship, was similarly destroyed by the settlement.Mars certainly has an impossible environment for human life, but on Mars, humans will be the invasive(侵略的)species. Will our landing on Mars break the ecosystem on Mars?It is possible that Mars has ideal minerals for future development. But apart from technology challenges, will the mining have a disastrous environment impact on this red neighbour as it has already had on Earth?
The achievements of space exploration are certainly to be applauded. The contributions of the related researches on chemistry, medicine and many others are potentially limitless. However,as we look to exploring worlds beyond our own,we need to begin now to look at history to consider how best to engage with different life forms, cultures and environments. We may be capable of writing a law,but we first need to clear our potential invasive impact on another planet that may be completely defenseless.

(1)What does the underlined word "this" in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A.Modern American society.
B.The creation of constitution.
C.The settlement of Europeans.
D.The exploitation of resources.
(2)What's the author's concern about the exploration of Mars?
A.Humans cannot survive on Mars.
B.Humans may bring new diseases to Mars.
C.The exploration may destroy Mars' ecosystem.
D.Technology challenges will make mining on Mars hard.
(3)What's the author's suggestion for future space exploring?
A.Making relevant laws properly.
B.Conducting more scientific researches.
C.Predicting its impacts on other planets.
D.Learning from past exploration experiences.
(4)Which column is this text most probably taken from?
A.Opinion.
B.History.
C.Technology.
D.Environment.
14. (本题10分)     Reunions offer a chance to reflect on how much has changed. One happened in Hollywood when Here premiered (首映),bringing together the actors, director and writer behind Forrest Gump 40 years later for a new film. The stars were "de-aged" using new AI tools, making them more youthful in some scenes and enabling the filmmakers to see the transformation in real time while shooting.
With the use of generative AI in film making come things worth watching. The first is how AI will be used to tell new types of stories,as storytelling becomes more personalised and interactive. No one is quite sure how the nature of storytelling will change, but it is sure to.David Thomson,a film historian, compares generative AI to the advent of sound. When movies were no longer silent,it changed the way plot points were made and how deeply viewers could connect with characters.Cristobal Valenzuela, who runs a company providing AI-enhanced software, says AI is like a "new kind of camera",offering a fresh "opportunity to reimagine what stories are like".Both are right.
Another big development to watch is how AI will be used as a time-saving tool.Generative AI will automate and simplify complex tasks like film-editing and special effects. For a glimpse of the future, watch Everything Everywhere All at Once, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2023.It featured a scene that used a "rotoscoping" tool to edit out the green-screen background and make a talking rock more believable. It shortened into hours what might have otherwise taken days of video-editing.
What is also noticeable is more dramatic conflicts between creators and those running AI platforms. This year is likely to bring floods of lawsuits (诉讼) from authors, musicians and actors about how their works have been used to train AI systems without permission or payment.Perhaps they can agree on some sort of licensing arrangement,in which AI companies start paying copyright-holders.
It will probably be a few years before a full-length film is produced entirely by AI,but it is just a matter of time.

(1)What can we learn about the film Here?
A.It relates a story about youth.
B.The theme of the film is reunion.
C.AI tools are employed in the film.
D.It is adapted from Forrest Gump.
(2)What does David think of AI's application in film making?
A.Transformative.
B.Destructive.
C.Representative.
D.Irreplaceable.
(3)Why does the author mention the film Everything Everywhere All at Once?
A.To show the high efficiency of AI tools.
B.To demonstrate the influence of the film.
C.To analyse a novel way of video-editing.
D.To praise the hard work behind the scenes.
(4)What is the article mainly about?
A.Conflicts between man and machine.
B.AI's huge effects on film production.
C.Drawbacks of dependence on AI tools.
D.Hot debate on the use of technology.
三、短文填空(1小题共10分)
15. (本题10分) How to Master Anxiety with Humour and Laughter Anxious people very often take themselves and their difficulties too seriously.Having a good laugh is a great way to lighten up. (1)        It gets your heart and lungs functioning fast and relaxes your diaphragm-the layer of muscle between your lungs and stomach, which, when you're anxious, spends a lot of time being hard and tense.
Besides getting you to laugh for a moment, good jokes also help break through black-and-white thinking and open you up to different expectations. When you hear or read a funny story or joke, you are already expecting the unexpected. (2)        Momentarily,at least, you have changed your mindset.
   (3)       Note them down so that you can look at them to help break you out of anxious thinking at a later day.Remembering funny experiences from the past is especially helpful because, very often, they weren't the least bit funny at the time.Maybe you locked yourself out of your home with no money or clothes on.It is a good reminder that even disasters aren't as extreme as they seem at the time-they can be laughed about when we view them in another way.
On average, happy children laugh over 300 times a day but adults less than 20. (4)        If you have been sad or unhappy, try watching a comedy or reading a book that makes you laugh.Or go for a walk and keep an eye out for something that will at least make you smile-the actions of dogs playing in the park, for instance,or something a young child says. (5)

A.It is also a good way to have fun.
B.You can get much more fun than usual from a joke book.
C.So,set yourself the pleasant task of laughing at least five times a day.
D.It can either be a development you can't predict or a clever punch line.
E.Remind yourself of the 10 funniest things that have ever happened to you.
F.More than that,it is an excellent way of reducing the stress your body goes through.
G.After all, looking out for the funnier side of life will offer you benefits more than just amusement.

"It's just,it had been Tuna Tuesdays and Spaghetti Saturdays for, like,my entire life. Not every meal had to start with the same letter as a day of the week."
My mom's eyes flashed. But she said nothing.I knew she didn't consider learning new recipes due to her overwhelming stress.
The next day 1 was sitting next to Tania, whose dad was the best cook,in our school's brand- new- since- six- months- ago kitchen classroom.Everything—the tables, the stove, the pots and pans—shone and sparkled.I was about to ask Tania about a new recipe but Mr.Bruin, our teacher, interrupted.
"I've got exciting news," he said.Exciting news? The class stopped talking and looked expectantly at Mr.Bruin. "To finish off our unit on kitchen skills,we were having a competition where you didn't have a recipe and you had to make something with whatever ingredients the judges gave you." An eager murmur traveled through the class. "You've learned a lot this term- accurate measuring, food prep, cooking techniques.Just add some creativity to the mix.
"Will there be prizes?" asked Samantha.
"Absolutely! And the first-place prize was the newest book in the Cave of the Dragons series," said Mr.Bruin, holding up a copy for everyone to sec.
The class erupted into squeals and cheers.Cave of the Dragons was the best book series ever!It had been sold out everywhere.During the break, all anyone could talk about was the cooking competition ."I'm totally going to win," said Tania.
