   "When I was young，there were not many people living by the lake. （1）        We usually drank water directly from the lake.So the water of Erhai Lake remained so clear，which was the top in the country's water quality system." He Licheng，a local man says.In the 1980s，however，the water quality of the lake went bad. （2）       In 1996，plenty of blue-green algae （水藻）made the water smell terrible and also made the local people feel heart-broken.
   Born into a fisherman's family，he started to go fishing with his parents when he was 15. （3）        But just three years later，the local government controlled fishing in the lake and prevented pollution in the lake.
   In 2012，he changed his house by the lake into a homestay （民宿）. （4）       In 2018，some homestays were closed to protect the area.Again，he had to give up a way of making money.
   "（5）       But I believe it's worthwhile （值得的）.I got to know the government's plan will help to greatly improve water quality.If the lake became too polluted，we couldn't live by it，" He says. "I can see Erhai is cleaner than before，so our life will get better."
