203976. (2024•高新一中•高二下期末)     This week Surgeon General Vivek H.Murthy released a warning about the risks that social media presents to the mental health of children and teenagers.Adolescent mental health has been declining for years, and an increasing amount of research suggests that social media platforms could be partially to blame. But experts continue to debate just how much impact they have.
Numerous studies demonstrate that adolescent rates of depression, anxiety and loneliness have skyrocketed in the U.S.and elsewhere since around the time that smartphones and social media became ever-present.
Yet the role social media plays has been widely debated. Some researchers have sounded the alarm, arguing that social media provides the most credible explanation for problems such as enhanced teen loneliness.Other researchers have been sitting on the fence. In 2019 Jeff Hancock founding director of the Social Media Lab at Stanford University, and his colleagues completed an analysis of 226 scientific papers dating back to 2006.They concluded that social media us was associated with a slight increase in depression and anxiety but also improvements in feelings of belonging and connectedness.
Some recent studies have attempted to clarify the link between social media and mental health, asking, for instance, whether social media use is causing depression or whether people are being more active on social media because they're depressed. In an attempt to present evidence,Massachusetts Institute of Technology economist Alexey Makarin and two of his colleagues conducted mental health surveys taken by college students across the country.Their study, published in 2022,found that swollen rates of depression and anxiety,as well as declined academic performance, followed Facebook's arrival.Makarin says much of the harm they documented came from social comparisons:students viewed the online profiles of their peers and believed them to "have nicer lives, party more often, have more friends and look better."
"In total, there's an increasingly clear picture that, indeed, social media has a negative impact on mental health," Makarin says. "We are not saying that social media can explain 100 percent of the rise of mental health issues...But it could potentially explain a sizeable portion."

(1)What do we know about social media?
A.It has negative influence on adolescent mental health.
B.It is the leading cause of adolescent depression.
C.It plays an important role in treating mental illness.
D.Its impact on mental health is still unknown.
(2)What is Jeff Hancock's attitude towards social media?
A.Critical.
B.Objective.
C.Favorable.
D.Indifferent.
(3)How does social media cause harm to teenagers according to Makarin?
A.By threatening their academic performance.
B.By presenting them with online profiles.
C.By encouraging them to party more often.
D.By making them feel worse-off than others.
(4)What is the main purpose of the text?
A.To advocate the harms of social media to teenagers' mental health.
B.To analyze the causes of worsening adolescent mental health.
C.To present findings on the link between social media and mental health.
D.To propose an effective approach to handling mental illness.

213611. (2023•莲湖区•高一下期中) A healthy diet may not offset(抵消) the effects of a high salt intake on blood pressure, suggests a new study. The research, from scientists at a number of institutions, studied the diets of over 4,000 people. The resultowed that people eating higher amounts of salt had higher blood pressure—no matter how healthy a person's overall diet.
The scientists behind the research are now advising people to monitor their salt intake—and food companies to lower the salt content in their products.
High blood pressure affects more than one in four adults in the UK,and increases the risk of a number of conditions including heart attacks and stroke. It's thought that vitamins and minerals in fruit and vegetables might in some way affect blood vessels(血管),enabling them to lower blood pressure.Previously, experts believed that eating high amounts of fruit and vegetables might help offset the effects of high salt on blood pressure. However, while these foods do tend to lower blood pressure, the new research suggests they do not offset the adverse influence of high salt intake.
In the paper, the team studied data from the so-called INTERMAP study. In this study published in 2018,scientists tracked the diets of 4,680 people, aged 40-59,from the USA,the UK,Japan and China. The researchers found a link between high blood pressure and high salt intake, even in people who were on a healthy diet.
The recommended upper limit of adult salt intake in the UK is 6 g a day.The study found that the average salt intake across the study was 10.7 g a day.The average intake for the UK was 8.5 g,while the intake for the USA,China and Japan were 9.6 g ,13.4 g and 11.7 g respectively.
Increasing salt intake above this average amount was linked to an increase in blood pressure.Dr Queenie Chan, joint lead author of the research, said the research shows the importance of cutting salt intake.

(1)What can food industry do to help lower people's high blood pressure?
A.Make salt-free food only.
B.Monitor the quality of their products.
C.Take control of their salt production.
D.Cut down salt content in their products.
(2)What does the underlined word"adverse"in paragraph 3 mean?
A.Adventurous.
B.Harmful.
C.Brief.
D.Average.
(3)Which of the following nations has the highest average salt intake?
A.The USA.
B.China.
C.Japan.
D.The UK.
(4)What can be the best title for the text?
A.A healthy diet may not offset the effects of high salt intake
B.High blood pressure is related to high salt intake
C.Research shows the importance of cutting salt intake
D.People eating higher amounts of salt have higher blood pressure

213688. (2023•高新一中•高二下期中) Green exercise is a term used to describe any type of physical exercise that takes place in a natural environment rather than in a health club or gym. (1)       .Instead,it relies on the use of natural means of taking part in activities that improve strength and endurance with as little reliance on equipment as possible.
(2)       .For example, some consider a truly natural exercise experience requires that the individual wear clothing only made from natural fibers.Others consider barefoot running or walking with a big arena to be more desirable than running or walking with shoes.
A slightly different approach to green exercise puts more stress on the fresh air, sunshine and involvement with the natural world, rather than the equipment or clothing used during the exercise. (3)       .Similarly,climbing a mountain using standard equipment and protective clothing would also be considered a green exercise.
Many consider green exercise helps to reconnect human beings with the natural world. The interaction with nature helps to lower people's blood pressure, refresh their mind, and actually improve their self-esteem. (4)       .
Not everyone believes that the green exercise is more beneficial than working out in a health club or gym. (5)       .Meanwhile,the use of fitness devices may result in more challenging workouts which help strengthen the heart and lungs in ways that more simplistic exercise in a natural setting would be difficult to manage.

A.A green gym uses as little equipment as possible
B.Spirits are also believed to be positively affected
C.Opinions on what truly green exercise means differ
D.Green exercise includes a range of activities exposed to nature
E.So riding a bicycle in the forest can be called a type of green exercise
F.It usually doesn't use fitness equipment that is normally found in a gym
G.Some point out that many health clubs are built to make full use of natural light

203641. (2025•西安八十五中•高二上期末)     Playing sports is a lot of fun,but getting hurt is not.(1)
    Wear protective equipment.
The equipment you wear depends on the sport you play.Helmets are the most common protective equipment. They protect your head while you're playing football, baseball, softball, biking, skateboarding, and so on.
    Warm up.
    (2)       Doing some stretching can get you prepared to hit the field.By warming up,you get yourself ready to play.Warming up your muscles and practicing a sport help keep you safe, too.
Know the rules of the games.
Traffic lights help prevent crashes between the cars that drive on the roads together. This works because drivers know the rules and follow them.(3)        .When players know the rules of the game, fewer injuries happen. For example, you know that in soccer you can't come from behind, crash into a player's legs, and steal the ball.
    (4)
Some rules don't have anything to do with scoring points. Some rules are just about protecting other people. For example,a diver would make sure that the pool was clear before diving in.Otherwise,he or she might land on someone else.
    Don't play when you're injured.
This is a really important one.If you love sports, you may get right back in the game, even after an injury.(5)       it can lead to an even worse injury.

A.It's just like sports.
B.Watch out for others.
C.Don't do too much exercise.
D.But playing when you're hurt is a bad idea.
E.You can take the following steps to prevent injuries.
F.It's not a good idea to just go to the field and start playing.
G.You and the other players know what to expect from each other.

212780. (2025•西安一中•高二下期中)     When I was a child I was often told what not to eat. "You don't want to get fat" was on constant repeat throughout my childhood. It really messed up my relationship with food —something that took me years to overcome.Because of this,I'm careful not to connect what my kids weigh with their worth as people.I encourage my daughter to make healthy snack choices and often dissuade (劝阻) her from a second dessert. But one day when I heard her saying "I think I'm too fat," my heart sank.It made me wonder if giving her advice on snacks was having an unintentionally negative impact.
According to Charlotte Markey,a professor of psychology, food is one of the rare subjects where,as parents, saying less is more. "There are so many things in parenting that are good to talk through, but I'm not convinced that food is one of them," she says. "It just creates some worries and insecurities in kids that aren't necessarily healthy."
Instead, she recommends applying a well-known concept among nutrition experts called the "Division of Responsibility," where parents provide a variety of mostly healthy foods to their kids at fixed times, and the kids themselves decide what and how much they want to consume —even if that means occasionally eating more cookies than carrots.
Allowing kids to eat what they want also exposes them to the natural consequences of their decisions. "When your child says, 'My stomach hurts,' you can say, 'Well you had a lot of sugary foods and you might feel better if you made some other choices,'" says Markey. "Let them feel like they have some control over it."
I've been trying out these strategies and I've found that when I'm less restrictive, they do make better decisions. "Feeding is a long game," says Markey. "The food you have available makes a huge difference.Even if they don't eat it,they' re seeing it.And then all of a sudden it clicks."

(1)What can be inferred about the author from the first paragraph?
A.She is upset by her kids' weight.

A.Allowing kids to eat cookies occasionally.
B.Offering various foods to kids at fixed times.
C.Explaining to kids the risks of taking snacks.
D.Talking with kids about school at mealtimes.
(3)What should kids do according to the "Division of Responsibility"?
A.Make diet decisions on their own.
B.Share their food with other kids.
C.Eat up what is provided for them.
D.Help their parents do the dishes.
(4)What does the author think of the strategiee has been following?
A.Costly.
B.Complex.
C.Workable.

203304. (2016•西工大附中•十模) Two friends have an argument that breaks up their friendship forever, even though neither one can remember how the whole thing got started.Such sad events happen over and over in high schools across the country. In fact, according to an official report on youth violence,"In our country today, the greatest threat to the lives of children and adolescents is not disease or starvation or abandonment, but the terrible reality of violence".Given that this is the case, why aren't students taught to manage conflict the way they are taught to solve math problems, drive cars,or stay physically fit?
First of all, students need to realize that conflict is unavoidable.A report on violence among middle school and high school students indicates that most violent incidents between students begin with a relatively minor insult (侮辱).For example,a fight could start over the fact that one student eats a peanut butter sandwich each lunchtime.Laughter over the sandwich can lead to insults, which in turn can lead to
violence. The problem isn't in the sandwich, but in the way students deal with the conflict.
Once students recognize that conflict is unavoidable, they can practice the golden rule of conflict resolution (解决):stay calm.Once the student feels calmer,he or she should choose words that will calm the other person down as well.Rude words,name-calling,and accusation only add fuel to the emotional fire.On the other hand, soft words spoken at a normal sound level can put out the fire before it explodes out of control.
After both sides have calmed down, they can use another key strategy for conflict resolution:listening.Listening allows the two sides to understand each other. One person should describe his or her side, and the other person should listen without interrupting.Afterward, the listener can ask non-threatening questions to clarify the speaker's position. Then the two people should change roles.
Finally, students need to consider what they are hearing. This doesn't mean trying to figure out what's wrong with the other person. It means understanding what the real issue is and what both sides are trying to accomplish. For example,a shouting match over a peanut butter sandwich might happen because one person thinks the other person is unwilling to try new things.Students need to ask themselves questions such as these:How did this start? What do I really want? What am I afraid of?As the issue becomes clearer, the conflict often simply becomes smaller.Even if it doesn't,careful thought helps both sides figure out a mutual solution.
There will always be conflict in schools, but that doesn't mean there needs to be violence. After students in Atlanta started a conflict resolution program, according to Educators for Social Responsibility,"64 percent of the teachers reported less physical violence in the classroom;75 percent of the teachers reported an increase in student cooperation;and 92 percent of the students felt better about themselves".
Learning to resolve conflicts can help students deal with friends, teachers, parents, bosses, and coworkers. In that way, conflict resolution is a basic life skill that should be taught in schools across the country.
(1)This article is mainly about
A.the lives of school children
B.the cause of arguments in schools
C.how to analyze youth violence
D.how to deal with school conflicts
(2)From Paragraph 2 we can learn that
A.violence is more likely to occur at lunchtime
B.a small conflict can lead to violence
C.students tend to lose their temper easily
D.the eating habit of a student is often the cause of a fight
(3)Why do students need to ask themselves the questions stated in Paragraph 5?
A.To find out who is to blame.
B.To get ready to try new things.
C.To make clear what the real issue is.
D.To figure out how to stop the shouting match.
(4)After the conflict resolution program was started in Atlanta,it was found that
A.there was a decrease in classroom violence
B.there was less student cooperation in the classroom
C.more teachers felt better about themselves in schools
D.the teacher-student relationship greatly improved.

213192. (2024•沣东中学•高二下期中)     It's no secret that sleep is important to your overall health, but a lack of sleep could have great effects on your heart,a new study shows. The researchers said people with insomnia(失眠症)are more likely to have a heart attack.
Insomnia is the most common sleep disorder in the US,the researchers wrote in their report, noting that 10% to 15% of people in the US struggle with it.The meta–analysis of previously published research suggests that the potential association between insomnia and heart attack risk is strongest in women.
Dr.Martha Gulati, director of prevention at the Cedars-Sinai Smidt Heart Institute, said that most of her patients are women and that insomnia is a noted risk factor for women who have had any form of ischemic heart disease."We see it probably in 1 in 10 patients in the United States,"said Gulati, who was not involved in the new research."It is my impression that almost everyone experiences insomnia at some point in their life. The estimate is that 1 in 2 adults experience it at some point in their life, maybe in the short term because of stressful moments."
For their analysis, the researchers defined insomnia as a sleep disorder with three main symptoms(症状):Difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep and waking early and being unable to fall back asleep.
The study also found an association between increased heart attack risk and how long a participant slept each night. Those who slept five hours or less had the highest association with heart attack risk and were 1.56 times more likely to have a heart attack than people who slept seven or eight hours.Longer sleep duration wasn't always more protective. The study found that people who slept six hours a night had a lower risk of a heart attack than those who slept nine hours or more."A lot of studies have pointed somewhere between seven and eight hours of sleep being the magic number for us,"another researcher said."There is obviously variability for everyone, but too much sleep is rarely the issue."

203995. (2023•师大附中•高一下期末)     Working out for 30 minutes every day "might not be enough" to counter the health issues created by long time sitting, according to a sweeping new study.
The new study, unlike the past ones that examined sitting and formal exercise separately, ignoring light activities, involved 3702 people to find out how those all affected people's health indices(指数).
With the data collected, researchers characterized people by how they moved. The first group dutifully exercised for a half-hour and then sat, almost nonstop, for more than 10 hours a day.Another group similarly worked out for 30 minutes and sat for long hours. But,in between, they rose often and took walks around, spending time in light activities like fetching another cup of coffee. The third group sat, uninterrupted, for up to 10 hours, but also collected an hour of exercise most days. The final group, which the researchers named "the movers," exercised about an hour most days, while also moving lightly for about two hours more.
When the researchers cross-checked these groups against people's current health data, the first group had the worst indices. On the contrary, the other groups were all better off and to about the same extent, with relatively improved blood sugar control and cholesterol(胆固醇) levels and about 8 percent less body fat than the first group.
"A single 30-minute,daily workout 'might not be enough' to reduce the downsides of long time sitting," said Vahid Farrahi, the lead author of the new study."In addition to a brisk(轻快的) workout,we need to move lightly and often, cleaning, taking the stairs, taking a walk in the halls or just not remaining still."

(3)What light activity is suggested to go with formal exercise?
A.Reading while sitting.
B.Swimming in the pool.
C.Working out in the gym.
D.Walking in the gym hall.
(4)What can we infer from Vahid's words?
A.It's better to exercise more often than half an hour every day.
B.Moving lightly and often is more useful than we have thought.
C.Working out harder and longer is better than just moving lightly.
D.A 30-minute workout has little help for long time sitting problems.

213582. (2023•铁一中学•高二下期中)     In the digital age,it has become easy for students to find and copy published material.Copying another person's writing without giving them credit is called plagiarism.Universities in the U.S.have rules for avoiding plagiarism. But learning to correctly follow these rules can be difficult for some international students.
Copyright law protects original works of authorship including books, movies, images and artworks. However, the law permits the unlicensed use for activities including comment, education and research. Therefore, students can include a small part of copyrighted works in their writing and research if they provide credit,or citation (引文),to the creators of the works. Many universities even urge students to give credit to what they get from conversations with professors or other students.Harvard even warns students about copying themselves. That is,they cannot hand in the same work for more than one class without the permission of their instructors.
It is easy for professors to know whether a student has plagiarized.First, there are computer programs that compare students' papers to large databases of published writing. The programs can identify whether students have copied published writing.Second,if English is not a student's first language,a professor might recognize a change in vocabulary and writing style. The punishment for plagiarism can vary.Professors could simply warn a student not to do it again, lower their grade,or they may fail the student in that class. In more extreme cases,a student may be temporarily banned from school.
There are free tools students can use.Zotero is a free,open-source program that helps organize all the research a student may use.For example,it can automatically create citations and combine them into a list. The Purdue OWL is another free resource. Many universities also have writing centers where students can learn the citation rules. And another way is to read published papers and pay attention to how information is presented.Studentould observe when and how citations are used, which can help them learn the rules of citations.

213610. (2023•莲湖区•高一下期中) A new study from North Carolina State University found that biology textbooks have done a poor job of including material related to climate change. For example, the study found that most biology textbooks published(出版) in the 2010s included less information about climate change than they did in the previous decade—despite significant advances in our under-standing of how climate change is influencing ecosystems and the environment.
"In short,we found biology textbooks are failing to share enough information about climate change, which is a generation-defining topic in the life sciences,"says Jennifer Landin, author of the study."These books are the baseline texts for helping students understand the science of life on Earth, yet they are providing very little information about a phenomenon that is having a great impact on habitats, ecosystems, agriculture—almost every aspect(方面) of life on Earth."
For the study, researchers investigated coverage of climate change in 57 college biology textbooks published between 1970 and 2019.The researchers found climate coverage has varied greatly over those five decades and that the amount of climate coverage in textbooks fell off in the 2010s.In addition to length, the nature of the content has also changed greatly over time.
"One of the most troubling findings was that textbooks are devoting less space to ad-dressing climate solutions now than they did in the 1990s—even as they focus more on the effects of climate change,"Landin says."That suggests to students that nothing can be done, which is both wildly misleading and contributes to a sense of fatalism(宿命论) regarding climate change."
"We are hoping that this study will serve as a wake-up call for publishers and instructors. We need to do a much better job of putting climate change into our courses if we want to pre-pare students to understand the role that climate change is playing in shaping life on Earth and how we study it,"Landin says.

205208. (2021•长安区一中•高一上期末) What you do after studying could play a big part in how well you learn and remember.Today on Education Tips,we will explore two no-cost ways that can help you improve your learning:wakeful rest and sleep.
When many students finish studying, they often go straight to another activity.Perhaps they look at their phone or computer. They might even play a video game or watch television. But research suggests that resting after your study may help you remember what you have studied.
The basic idea is this:by stopping your activity after the study, your brain gets a chance to rest.Resting is difficult when you are playing computer games.
While this might sound unusual to you, many studies have explored the benefits of resting after learning---which is called "wakeful rest".
A 2019 study found that both young and older adults were able to better remember information they learned after doing wakeful rest.
If you want to give "wakeful rest" a try, here are a few simple things to do.Rest quietly for five to ten minutes.Do not look at your phone, read stories or play games. It is really that easy!
Besides wakeful rest, sleep is also important for learning. The Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) notes that sleep helps people to learn in two ways.A report on the school's website explains that "a sleep-deprived(剥夺)person cannot focus attention well and therefore cannot learn well".It also says,"Sleep itself helps us to memorize and that memorizing is very important for learning new information. "
The National Sleep Foundation(NSF)suggests that adults between the ages of 20 and 64 get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep per day.Teenagers may need a little bit more, and people over the age of 65 may need a little less.
Try to get some "wakeful rest" after a study. Then try to get a good night's sleep. That's it---a simple,no-cost way to help you remember what you learn.

(1)What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.The importance of sleep.
B.The good ways to get a rest.
C.The reason for having a rest.
D.The types of resting activities.
(2)Which activity might be recommended shortly after studying?
A.Reading a newspaper.
B.Playing a video game.
C.Sitting there doing nothing.
D.Having a nice sleep at night.
(3)How long should teenagers sleep each day according to NSF?
A.Less than 7 hours.
B.Just 7 hours.
C.No more than 9 hours.
D.Around 9 hours.
(4)What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Low-cost Tips on Working
B.What to Do After Your Study
C.Why Do We Need to Have a Good Sleep?
D.How Long Should We Rest After Learning?

204260. (2023•长安区•高一上期末)     Math anxiety is far from uncommon, but too often, those who fear the subject simply avoid it.Research from the University of Chicago offers evidence for the link between math anxiety and avoidance.
Studying nearly 500 adults through a computer program called the Choose-And-Solve Task (CAST),the researchers gave participants (参加者) a choice between math and word problems labeled "easy" and "hard".The easy problems were always worth two cents, while the hard problems were worth up to six cents. They also informed participants the computer task would change the questions in the process of testing based on their abilities, enabling them to handle about 70% of the hard problems.
Although participants attempted hard word problems when promised higher monetary prizes, they rarely chose to do the same for math problems. "We found we couldn't even pay math-anxious individuals to do difficult math problems," researcher Rozek says.
The findings also contradict a widely held belief that feeling anxious about math and avoiding math-related problems is rooted in being bad at math. "If you take two students good at math, the math-anxious one will do worse at math than the one that isn't anxious."
Such a mentality does more than stopping people from taking calculus courses or pursuing a career in STEM.It can affect everyday interactions with math-like leaving a tip in a restaurant. But all is not lost. "Reframing their anxiety from negative to positive could help math-anxious people re-engage.Giving those anxious about sitting exams guidance may lead them to perform better.Telling them if you're anxious, this is your body getting you ready to perform and focus," Rozek says. "Another path may be to create early positive experiences around math. For example, telling stories featuring math and tackling problems around the story may be helpful." he adds.

(1)What does the University of Chicago offer evidence for?
A.The advantages of math anxiety.
B.The link between math anxiety and avoidance.
C.The importance of math.
D.The link between anxiety and study.
(2)What is the second paragraph mainly about?
A.How the study was organized.
B.Why people chose easy problems.
C.Who participated in the study.
D.What the result was.
(3)What is a common misunderstanding about math anxiety according to Paragraph 4?
A.Math anxiety is the cause of math avoidance.
B.Math anxiety causes people to be bored of math.
C.Math anxiety is a complex phenomenon in life.
D.Math anxiety results from poor math performance.
(4)Which of the following statements will Rozek agree with?
A.Reframing math anxiety from negative to positive is impossible.
B.People with math anxiety should pay attention to math less.
C.People can deal with math anxiety through proper ways.
D.People with math anxiety won't perform better.

205621. (2019•蓝田县•高二下期末) As an oceanographer(海洋学家),I've spent many years developing robots to explore the ocean, and now we're putting that technology to use in our JASON Project,a program that's designed to inspire students and get them interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In theaters throughout the country,we bring kids together and send back to them on large screens our live explorations of large areas of the globe. Not only are the kids observers, but they can operate robots moving across the area while broadcasting images back to them. The kids have the sensation(感受)of really being at the site with us.
I believe advances in robot technology will one day be the key to a new kind of travel. In the next 10 or 15 years, people will have rooms in their houses that will be able to simulate(模拟) other environment.I like to call this rooms "home domes"-small theaters with screens and advanced equipment that can reproduce the sights, sounds, smells, and feel of a desert or a forest.Hand in hand with these rooms,I can see a market for travel robots located in countries around the world. You could rent(租) a robot working in a rain forest, then go into your home dome, where you yourself operate the robot's movements. The equipment in the room will receive the sensations in the robot's environment and simulate them for you.
Today, much of the world's population never travels more than 50 or 60 miles from home. And even a person with enough time can see only a part of the earth's sights. But this new way of travel will cost so much less in both time and money and allow people to see a lot more of the globe. And simulated travel will also help protect our planet. You can't take large groups of tourists to look at Dian Fossey's gorillas (大猩猩).But a small robot, with no animal smell, can get very close to a gorilla and send the sights, sounds, and smells back to a million people.

(1)The main purpose of the JASON Project is to
A.design robots
B.educate children
C.explore the world
D.improve technology
(2)Without going outside, people in "home domes" can
A.get very close to nature
B.enjoy a guided trip
C.develop and operate robots
D.send images back to scientists
(3)What's the author's attitude towards the future of robot technology?
A.Uncaring.
B.Doubtful.
C.Hopeful.
D.Dissatisfied.
(4)According to the text,simulated travel
A.has been widely accepted
B.costs lots of time and money
C.is harmful to the environment
D.is time-and money-saving

Making the switch to a healthy diet Switching to a healthy diet doesn't have to be an all or nothing proposal. You don't have to completely avoid foods you enjoy.(1)        .That usually only leads to cheating or giving up on your new eating plan.A better approach is to make a few small changes at a time.
Prepare more of your own meals.(2)        .It can make you better monitor exactly what goes into your foods. You'll eat fewer calories and avoid the chemical additives, added sugar and unhealthy fats.
(3)       .When cutting back on unhealthy foods in your diet,it's important to replace them with healthy alternatives.Replacing dangerous trans fats (反式脂肪酸) with healthy fats will make a positive difference to your health.
Focus on how you feel after eating. This will help develop healthy new habits and tastes.(4)        .The more junk food you eat,the more likely you are to feel uncomfortable, boring or tired out.
Drink plenty of water.Water helps flush our systems of waste products and poison, yet many of us go through life dehydrated (脱水的)—causing tiredness, low energy, and headaches. It's common to mistake thirst for hunger.(5)

A.Make the right changes
B.Setting yourself up for success
C.And you don't have to change everything all at once
D.Eating a healthier diet doesn't have to be complicated
E.The healthier the foods you eat,the better you'll feel after a meal
F.So drinking enough water will also help you make healthier food choices
G.Cooking more meals at home can help you take charge of what you're eating

204242. (2023•长安区一中•高二上期末)     All it takes is three continuous nights of sleep loss to cause your mental and physical well-being to greatly worsen.
A new study looked at the consequences of sleeping fewer than six hours for eight nights on end — the minimum duration of sleep that is necessary to support best health in average adults.
Lead author Soomi Lee,assistant professor at the University of South Florida, found the biggest jump in symptoms appeared after just one night of sleep loss. The number of mental and physical problems steadily got worse, peaking on day three. At that point, research shows the human body got relatively used to repeated sleep loss. But that all changed on day six, when participants reported that the severity of physical symptoms was at its worst.
"Many of us think that we can pay our sleep debt on weekends and be more productive on weekdays." Lee said. "However, results from this study show that having just one night of sleep loss can significantly weaken your daily functioning."
Data provided by the Midlife in the United Study included nearly 2000 middle-aged adults who were relatively healthy and well-educated.Among them 42% had at least one night of sleep loss, sleeping 1.5 fewer hours than their typical routines.
They recorded their mental and physical behaviors in a diary for eight days in a row, allowing researchers to review how sleep loss causes wear and tear on the body.Participants reported a pile-up of angry,nervous,lonely,bad-tempered and frustrated feelings as a result of sleep loss. They also experienced more physical symptoms, such as upper respiratory issues, aches, gastrointestinal (肠胃的) problems and other health concerns.
These negative feelings and symptoms were continuously sharpened throughout continuous sleep loss days and didn't return to baseline levels unless they had a night sleep of more than six hours.
Lee says the best way to maintain a strong daily performance is to set aside more than six hours to sleep every night.

(1)When did participants have the worst physical symptoms?        ?
A.On day 1.
B.On day 3.
C.On day 6.

A.We can make up for sleep loss on weekends.
B.We can improve our efficiency if we sleep enough on weekends.
C.Even one night of sleep loss can affect our daily performance.
D.It doesn't matter if we don't get enough sleep occasionally.
(3)How can we solve the problems caused by sleep loss?        ?
A.By setting aside over 5 hours each night.
B.By reducing negative feelings and symptoms.
C.By doing exercise and listening to music.
D.By sparing over 6 hours to sleep each night.
(4)What is the text mainly about?        ?
A.The concept of sleep loss.
B.The consequences of sleep loss.
C.The methods of avoiding sleep loss.
D.The causes of sleep loss.
