215149. （2016•西北大附中•高二下期中） Most of us spend our lives seeking the natural world．We go fishing，sit in the garden，have a picnic，live in the suburbs or go to the seaside．The most popular leisure activity in Britain is going for a walk．When joggers jog，they don't run the streets．Every one of them tend to go to the park or the river．
But despite this，our children are growing up nature deprived（剥夺）．I spent my boyhood climbing trees．These days，children are robbed of these ancient freedoms，due to problems like crime，traffic，the loss of the open spaces and strange new ideas about what is best for children，that is to say，things that can be bought，rather than things that can be found．
The truth is to be found elsewhere．A study in the US：families had moved to better housing and the children were assessed for ADHD-attention deficit hyperactivity disorder（多动症）．Those whose accommodation had more natural viewowed an improvement of 19%；those who had the same improvement in material surroundings but no nice view improved just 4%．
ADHD is one of the great problems of modern childhood．One study after another indicates that contact with nature gives huge benefits to ADHD children．However，we spend money on drugs rather than on green places．
The life of old people is measurably better when they have access to nature．The increasing concern for the growing population of old people is in quality rather than quantity of years．And study after study finds that a garden is the single most important thing in finding that quality．Even problems with crime and aggressive behaviour are reduced when there is contact with the natural world．
We need the wild world．It is essential to our wellbeing，our health and our happiness．

205805. （2017•西北大附中•高二下期末） I had often dreamt of the possibility of spending a year away from my hometown of Leeds in England，living in a foreign country．By the time I was old enough，however，I thought that my language was going to hold me back．
However，luckily for me，Leeds University，where I was studying at the time，made it possible for any student，even people like myself speaking only one language，to study abroad．Before I knew it I was boarding a plane for Salzburg，Austria．I wasn't quite sure what to expect of the experience ahead of me but I was prepared to accept the challenge．
The university was quite small but the classes were large．Also，Austrian students usually take five years to complete their courses，so studying was somewhat more relaxed than at home．Austrian students go home quite often，too．Therefore，the foreign students had to socialise with each other quite a lot，which didn't help our language skills．
Salzburg itself is a picture-postcard Austrian city．It is also famous for being the birthplace of Mozart and the setting for The Sound of Music．As a result，it is usually very busy with tourists．I also found that it doesn't have a lot going on for young people，in comparison to Leeds．
There were，however，many advantages to living in Salzburg．For example，get on a train and you can be in Prague，Rome or Krakow within a matter of hours．By the end of my year in Salzburg，I had visited eight other countries in Europe．
After spending a year overseas，I went back to my course in Leeds much more focused on what I wanted to get out of my last year and more appreciative of the opportunities （机会） university provides．The year in Salzburg really showed me that you get a lot more out of a place when you live there compared to when you are just travelling through．I'd recommend all students to spend a year studying abroad if they can．
