M:My name is Don Friedman, and I'd like to welcome you to our course,Introduction to Computer Science,or ICS310,as we call it.Let me start by giving you an idea of what you can expect from this course, one of the most popular courses in our university. In ICS310,you will learn the basics of modern operating system structures, programming, and computer hardware. You will be given the opportunity to become familiar with each operating system through five programming assignments. Each programming assignment is worth 10 percent of your final grade and can be done either in pairs or individually.20 percent of your grade will be based on attendance.Additionally,at the end of the course, there is a final written exam worth 30 percent.Regular attendance in our computer course is critical for mastering technical skills and theoretical concepts.Attending lectures ensures exposure to software tools, programming techniques, and my instructive guidance, while labs provide opportunities to practice.Consistent participation also fosters cooperation, networking, and timely feedback. In a rapidly evolving field, staying engaged helps students adapt to new technologies and industry trends, directly impacting academic success and future career readiness.
I'm looking forward to working with you in my course this semester!
