52350. (2022•莲湖区•三模) On Nov 16,seven astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) woke up to an alarm.A Russian missile (导弹) test had just blasted a satellite (卫星) into more than 1,500 pieces of space debris (碎片).Some got very close to the ISS.
NASA says space debris like this can travel at more than 28,000 km/h.That's much faster than a bullet (about 3,500 km/h).Even a pea-sized piece of debris could "wipe out" a space station or kill an astronaut if he or she is doing a spacewalk, says Live Science.
Since the 1950s,humans have sent thousands of rockets and satellites into space. Many are still there, and we now face an ever-increasing risk of space junk.
In 2006,for example,National Geographic reported that a tiny piece of space junk hit the ISS,taking a chip out of a window. In June of this year,a piece of debris ran into one of the station's robotic arms and left a hole.Scientists are trying different ways to handle the problem. One way is to use a huge net.
In 2018,the UK's Surrey Space Center caught some space junk with a net in an experiment. It first found the debris, and then collected it with a net and a harpoon.
Another solution is to use robotic arms.ClearSpace 1,the European Space Agency's mission (飞行任务) to clean space junk,is going to be sent into space in 2025.It will use robotic arms to catch debris. The mission plans to throw the debris into Earth's atmosphere, where it will burn up as it falls because of intense friction.

39126. (2023•东方中学•九上一月) 德优题库From the very beginning of our studies,we have known that many Chinese characters can change their pronunciations in different situations. .But how will you feel if you're told that many of the pronunciations we learned in textbooks will be considered incorrect?
Recently,an article called"Chinese characters whose pronunciations have changed" 唯唯诺诺 caused hot discussions on the Internet. The article reported that some pronunciations, which were considered to have been misread(读错) before, are now correct. They include the characters in well-known sentences from ancient poems. One example is by He Zhizhang from the Tang Dynasty."Old,I return to the homeland while young.Thinner has grown my hair, though I speak the same tongue."(Translated by Xu Yuanchong)

An official from the Ministry of Education replied that most of the so-called"new" pronunciations have not been confirmed(证实) yet. However, according to the fifth and sixth editions of the Modern Chinese Dictionary, quite a few pinyin spellings have already been changed:"呆(dai, first tone;原ai,second tone) 板" and "确凿(zao, second tone;原zuo, fourth tone)".

53416. (2019•滨河中学•八模) When we wake up feeling sleepy and with dark circles under eyes, many of us often think, "I'm going to bed earlier tomorrow!"But however determined we are.chances are that we don't keep our promise.
This behavior is called"bedtime procrastination(拖延)",and results from lack of self-control and our body clock, reported HuffPost.According to a study carried out by a group of health psychologists at Utrecht University in the Netherlands in 2014,bedtime procrastination is a common problem. In their study,53 percent of the 2,400 participants said they didn't follow their sleep schedule, delaying it at least twice a week .
It's found that they delayed bedtime not because they liked to stay up late, but they couldn't stop doing other little things, which were keeping them up in the first place."People who generally have trouble resisting temptations and adhering to their intentions(抵制诱惑和坚持己见的人)are also more likely to delay going to bed, "Floor Kroese,a psychologist at Utrecht University, further explained to HuttPost.Yet,according to scientists, lack of self-control is not the only reason. Our body clock also plays an important role when it comes to bedtime.
In order to check the influence of the body clock on sleep, psychologists at Ulm University in Germany studied the sleep patterns of 108 people in February. It was found that those who get up late are more likely to put off their bedtime than those who wake early every morning.
And more surprisingly, night owls would go to bed late at the very beginning of the weekday, even though they had to get up early for work and school. It's their special body clock that plays a part in delaying their bedtime, reported Popular Science.
"The willing to go to bed earlier is not enough,"Jana Kuhnel,a psychologist at Ulm University, concluded in Popular Science. "Biological processes need to support this idea.
People always think that bedtime procrastination isn't a big problem, but as Kroese told Popular Science, " the choices we make that affect our sleep could turn out to be pretty important for our health.
