205998. (2016•长安区一中•高一下期末) The surprising experiment I am about to describe proves that air is all around you and that it presses down upon you.Air pressure is a powerful force. When you swim underwater, you can feel water pushing on your body. The air all around you does the same. However, your body is so used to it that you do not notice this. The pressure is caused by a layer of air called the atmosphere. This layer surrounds the Earth, extending to about five kilometers above the Earth's surface.
The following experiment is an easy one that you can do at home. But make sure that you are supervised, because you will need to use matches. Now for the experiment!
What you need
●A hard-boiled egg without the shell
●A bottle with a neck slightly smaller than the egg
●A piece of paper
●A match
Method
Check that the egg will sit firmly on the neck of the bottle.
Tear the paper into strips and put the strips into the bottle.
Light the paper by dropping a burning match into the bottle.
Quickly sit the egg on the neck of the bottle.
Result
Astonishingly, the egg will be sucked into the bottle.Your friends will be amazed when you show them the experiment. But be careful when you handle matches.
Why it happened
As the paper burns,it needs oxygen and uses up the oxygen(air) in the bottle. The egg acts as a seal in the neck of the bottle,so no more air can get inside. This reduces the air pressure inside the bottle. The air pressure must equalize,so more air from outside must enter the bottle. The outside air presses against the egg and then the egg is pushed into the bottle! This proves that air is all around and that it is pressing down on us.
(1)The experiment is carried out to prove
A.water pushes on your body when you swim underwater
B.the pressure of air around us has a powerful force
C.the earth is surrounded by a layer of air called the atmosphere
D.the air pressure is not equalized around us
(2)Why is there the need to take care when you are doing the experiment?
A.The bottle could break.
B.The egg has to be perfectly placed on the neck of the bottle.
C.The egg needs to be shelled.
D.You need to light the paper with a match.
(3)In the experiment, the burning inside the bottle can
A.finish up the oxygen inside the bottle
B.make a seal in the neck of the bottle
C.equalize the air pressure inside and outside
D.Produce more oxygen inside the bottle
(4)How did the egg get into the bottle?
A.The oxygen inside the bottle sucked the egg in.
B.It became soft without the shell.
C.The outside air pressure forced it into the bottle.
D.The neck of the bottle was wide enough.

Imagine our natural homes growing instead of shrinking.Imagine species (物种) diversifying instead of declining. That's rewilding.Rewilding is ecological restoration.Rewilding offers hope for wildlife, humans and the planet.
Why is rewilding important and necessary?
   ● Our natural ecology is broken. The places where you would expect wildlife to exist have been reduced to wet deserts. The seabed has been destroyed and there have been no living creatures any more.
   ● Our wildlife is disappearing. Many wonderful species have declined over the past century. We've lost more of our large animals than any European country.
   ● We need keystone species. These vital species, including top predators (食肉动物),drive ecological processes.Their loss has worsened our living systems.
   ● Nature looks after us.Good natural ecology can provide us with clean air and water, prevent flooding and store carbon.Rewilding can leave the world in a better state than it is today.
What are challenges?
As a long-term project, our "rewilding britain" has its challenges. Many people are not interested, because we have got used to the lack of native forests. Many farmers oppose the idea. They thought it a crazy idea to bring back predators because they would start killing farm animals. It takes time to educate them.Above all,we need money! So we need your help!
   Make a donation.
Help us bring back living systems and restore wild nature!
   With your help we can…
   ● Open up new chances for rewilding and push for change.
   ● Develop tools to educate, influence and spread the word.
   Thanks for your support.

204277. (2023•阎良区•高二下期末) Some of the most beautiful national parks in the UK Snowdonia
North Wales's national park boasts mountain and views:Several of its peaks gaze across to Ireland and it has miles of sandy beaches. You can climb Wales's height mountain without working up a sweat by catching an old-fashioned train. Those who purse excitement can choose zip lines, bounce down mountain bike trails or catch breaks at an inland surfing.
   Cairngorms
The UK's biggest national park is home to its mightiest mountains:Five out of six of Scotland's highest peaks are found here.Lying in the heart of the Highlands, the Cairngorms mountain range still has vast areas of pure wilderness and is one of the chilliest places in the country. For much of the year, its peaks are blanketed in snow and you can ski there in winter.
   Peak District
Sandwiched between Manchester and Sheffield,England's oldest national park has two personalities:A tough and a gentle side.In the north are dramatic edges like Kinder Scout which rewards adventurous walkers with stark (荒凉的)views.Venture south for the lower,greener,grass-covered valleys of the White Peak.Walk along the Ecclesbourne Valley to experience both in one day.
   New Forest
The New Forest is surprisingly old:William the Conqueror named it when he used to hunt deer and wild pigs here nearly 1,000 years ago.Confusingly, this picturesque corner of southern England isn't completely covered in woodland either-it also has acres of wild land and miles of pebbly(布满鹅卵石的),muddy coast. The terrain is gentle, and you're guaranteed a sighting of its free-walking horses.
